Embedding community and public voices in co-created solutions to mitigate antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Thailand using the ‘Responsive Dialogues’ public engagement framework

  08 July 2024

Thailand’s high use of antimicrobials has led to a project aimed at understanding and addressing antimicrobial resistance (AMR) among adult Thai communities. The project involved 179 conversations using Wellcome’s ‘Responsive Dialogues’ approach, involving key stakeholders and policymakers. Issues identified included misunderstandings, limited communication, social norms, and widespread availability of cheap antimicrobials. To mitigate AMR, messages should be tailored to the target audience, health literacy initiatives increased, local information available, and local leadership in AMR mitigation efforts.
